NEW TO THE BUSINESS AND STRUGGLING TO GET SALES – get your head on straight!
Why do Realtors give up so easy? Do the real estate schools not do a good job of teaching would-be agents that this is a business, one that takes time to grow and nurture. One that it includes sales, which can be very hard for some people. It’s not just about showing houses, you know.
Did you know the fail rate for Realtors is about 5 in every 6 within the first year. I think that most people have no idea what they are getting into when they sign up for real estate school. So let me shed some light on why you are struggling.
As you have quickly ascertained, Real Estate is not always easy and in order to succeed you need to be prepared to put your head down and really learn systems and habits that will build a strong foundation for a long lasting, endurable business.
IT IS ALL UP TO YOU
What do you think about each day when you wake up in the morning? Are you happy, excited, positive or are you sick to your stomach, tired, lethargic? It may be that the biggest hurdle you need to overcome is YOU. If you do not have the right attitude or mindset you will not get very far.
To my dismay, I have seen too many agents fail because they just could not see themselves as successful real estate agents.
That is really a big deal! If you cannot even visualize yourself as an agent working with many buyers and sellers, your path to success will not be realized.
Some agents start out in the right direction, excited and anxious to embark on a new career and take the world by the tail. They begin to get some traction by their efforts and with having the correct mindset. Then BOOM because transactions don’t happen fast enough, buyers and sellers aren’t quite ready to buy or sell, phone calls aren’t returned immediately or sales fall through due to a myriad of reasons, it doesn’t take very long before discouragement sets in. They end up losing everything they gained. They give up too soon.
Did you know that often times, agents give up right before they are about to hit the mother-lode? How do I know this? Because it has happened to me. Just when I was ready to call it quits, I tried one more time and wahlah✨ “gold mine” So it is important for you to always know that everything success you achieve starts in your head and then works its way down.
Always be aware that You are the captain of your ship and no one else can steer you the wrong direction except for you.
SYSTEMS AND HABITS
Do you have a system to attract buyers and sellers? If you do not put a good lead generation system in place you will not have buyers and sellers to buy from you on a continual basis. This is a system that must be developed and fully automated so you can just about put it on auto pilot and all your lead generation is accomplished in advance and goes out like clockwork every day, week, month or quarter, however you have it set up.
This is an easy system to navigate once you have it in place. Your system begins by utilizing a CRM (contact Management System). We also call it a database or COI (Center of Influence), just remember all the peeps you know need to be in one place that is easy to access.
In the beginning, you will have to put in some long hours getting it up and running but it will be so worth it. You will be contacting your COI using Facebook, postcards, emails and video and yes, phone calls. You will need to decide how often a contact goes out, but I suggest at first contact every week for 8 weeks and then at least once a month after that. This is all part of that strong foundation building we talked about earlier.
Form good habits that include getting up in the morning with a plan of action. You can plan your day the night before or early that morning but this is a habit that will take you farther and faster than you can imagine. Most agents do not have a planned day and so we know what happens to them.
LEARN TO LAST
Learn all the trick and trades of the real estate game you can, but first remember if you do not have the attitude of “I Will never give up and I will succeed no matter the cost” you will struggle to get sales and major success!
